The ideal candidate will have the ability to spot, analyze, and solve complex multi-faceted problems using a wide range of tools. The candidate will be responsible for implementing best practices in systems engineering and driving requirements to support experimental flight demonstration programs for chapter 24 systems. Key Responsibilities: - Supports the preparation of proposals, business plans, technology roadmaps - Develops MBSE methodologies that efficiently addresses the aircraft safety and system development processes called out in customer requirements flow-down such as ARP4761/ARP4754A and tailoring those processes to support experimental flight to demonstratenew technologies - Provides clear, sustainable and cost effective direction for requirements decomposition, validation and verification at System and product implementation levels. - Supports the best practice application and sharing of best practices within the larger Power and Controls/Collins community - Pursues all cost-saving opportunities to maximize project profitability. - Performs critical path analysis and prepares and implements work-around plans to ensure the successful completion of projects. - Provides direct program support as required including representing Systems - Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives. - Mentors engineers formally/informally in practices supporting systems engineering - Develops training material for systems engineering and works with programs during all phases to ensure that Systems life cycle processes are followed - Working member of Systems Engineering Process Group and Process Assurance Team - Interface with test teams to manage testing activities across mechanical, electrical, and test - Support fundraising activities, with external funding agencies - Lead long-term planning activities, daily execution, and ensure quality by signing off on all critical documents and deliverables. - Implement weight management, risk management, and escalation processes to improve team performance. ? Required Qualifications: - Electrical sub-systems development (e.g. Chapter 24, aircraft utilities, power distribution units) - Applicant should have the ability to apply basic electrical and/or mechanical principles to design, analyze and conduct engineering investigations on electronic products - Broad life-cycle experience: requirements analysis through system integration including integration and aircraftcertification for part 25 aircraft - Experience working within an environment operating or supporting experimental flight for any aircraft type - Respect for, and compatibility with, a structured development process where well-documented requirements, designs, and test procedures are essential. - Simulation and scripting experience (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, Saber, Python) - Familiarity with Aircraft Certification requirements related to System Safety and Reliability (ARP4754, ARP4761, FAR / JAR), and Aircraft Electrical System Architecture. - Experienced mentor of less experienced engineers - Applicant must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment - Strong written and verbal communication skills required - Extensive experience in leading engineering teams, preferably in the aerospace or related industry. - Proven track record of successful project management and team leadership. - Strong technical authority and decision-making skills in engineering activities. - Experience with energy systems, including batteries, electrical power management, and thermal management. - Skilled practitioner in the following areas/tools: - DO-254, DO-178B & C, DO-160D-G, MIL-STD-704F, DO-311A - CS25 / FAR Part 25 (Federal Aviation Authority Regulatory Requirements) - AS50881 (Wiring & EWIS) - SC-VTOL, SC-19 (EHPS) - DO-311A (Battery certification) - ARP4754A (systems development) / ARP4761 (safety analysis) - Development of DAL A & B Safety Critical Applications - DOORS Systems Requirement Management - MATLAB / Simulink - Sparx Enterprise Architect (SysML) - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience with eVTOL or electric aircraft projects. - Experience with experimental flight aircraft - Familiarity with EASA certification processes. - Experience in fundraising and stakeholder engagement.
