Distribution Centre Operative:
Job Description and Key Tasks

Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensure all goods in are processed, put away, and queries dealt with satisfactorily within required deadlines
* Ensure all sales orders are accurately picked, packed, and dispatched daily
* Support the senior distribution centre operator/supervisor in driving performance and achieving targets
* Help develop and maintain high standards of accuracy and output within the team
* Provide cover or support during busy periods across all areas of the department
* Carry out sales order dispatch picking and accurately produce dispatch shipping labels
* Receive and check deliveries for correct quantity and quality
* Report any discrepancies or damages directly to the supplier and Purchasing Manager
* Keep internal “dispatched” spreadsheets fully updated throughout the day
* Manage stock rotation and assist with processing customer returns
* Check packing and picking accuracy of other team members
* Log orders picked in the master distribution centre spreadsheet
* Manage outbound goods including shipping manifests and loading
* Maintain accurate records (delivery notes, dispatch logs, etc.)
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
* Has previous experience in a similar warehouse, distribution, or logistics role
* Is confident using warehouse systems, scanners, and spreadsheets
* Has a strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
* Is physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks
* Demonstrates a proactive and positive attitude toward work
* Is reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
* Is a team player with good communication skills
* Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities
* Holds a forklift truck license (desirable, not essential – will increase starting pay if held)
* Is flexible and willing to provide support across various warehouse functions as needed
* Has a basic level of IT literacy for updating spreadsheets and managing warehouse records
Hours of Work
* Monday to Friday
* 2pm to 10pm
Pay
* £25,584 FTE (£12.30 per hour)
* This is the base pay and may increase according to experience – e.g., if a forklift truck license is held and can attract a shift allowance of 10%
