At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity, and exploring new ways of working. With commercial and operational property valued at over £175m, we are seeking an experienced Chartered Surveyor to take responsibility for providing an efficient and effective asset management service to the Council. You will play a crucial role in the day-to-day management of the Council’s commercial and operational property portfolio and identify opportunities to maximise income and capital returns. Proficient in appointing and coordinating external consultants, you will be familiar with a variety of surveying disciplines including but not limited to landlord & tenant, valuation, business rates, planning and development. You will need willingness and flexibility to participate in a range of projects and day-to-day activities. Excellent communication skills are required to work effectively with internal client service areas, councillors, tenants, consultants and a wide range of stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Head of Property & Regeneration, you will bring lots of relevant skills and experience, be a strong team player and have a positive and flexible attitude to your work. You must have your own transport as you will be required to visit tenants and attend the Council’s operational venues across the borough. This is a challenging and rewarding role for a highly motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a dedicated team and takes pride in delivering a first class service. In return you will benefit from a supportive and friendly environment, hybrid working arrangements, 24 days annual leave (rising to 29 after 5 years’ service), subsidised gym membership and car parking, payment of professional fees, entitlement to join the local government pension scheme, and non-contributory life assurance. Prospective applicants are invited to contact Mark Shephard (Head of Property & Regeneration) for an informal conversation: mshephardepsom-ewell.gov.uk
