DESCRIPTION
Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. As an Area Manager, you'll ensure your site runs smoothly to meet customer demand. You will lead a team that helps keep our operations safe, efficient, and of high quality while taking on various projects across our network to drive productivity.
Key job responsibilities:
1. Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
2. Analyse and implement changes to maintain high levels of quality and productivity.
3. Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity, and increase service quality for customers within your area of responsibility.
4. Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives and implement actions to improve operational excellence.
5. Work collaboratively with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices.
A day in the life:
You will work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring productivity. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety and uphold quality and shift performance standards. A typical day includes team management, daily operational responsibilities, process improvement, and operational contingency tasks. You'll also be a role model and mentor to new managers.

Customer Fulfilment, or CF, is where it all started for Amazon. CF has scaled from a humble team of booksellers to a sophisticated global team handling over 1.5 million orders daily. The team is foundational to our business and has helped us diversify across new regions and services. With emerging technology, we're always seeking ways to offer a broader product range - delivered quickly and affordably.
The CF team are the first in the chain that helps customers receive products at the speed we're known for. Our Fulfilment Centres, referred to as the 'First Mile', manage dynamic inventory and facilitate speedy deliveries around the clock. Various skillsets are welcome in our Fulfilment Centres, from those working with physical products to those analysing data for business decisions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Relevant experience in people management.
3. Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
4. Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and local language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications are not required to apply for a position at Amazon. If you have all the basic qualifications above, we'd love to hear from you.
1. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques.
2. Experience in another logistics environment.
3. Experience with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment.
4. Experience in supply chain management and transportation concepts: forecasting, planning, optimization, logistics, delivery performance, carrier negotiation, inventory management, S&OP.
