An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Physiotherapist (Team Lead) to work across the Cardiothoracic service at QEHB. The post holder will support the continued development of the Cardiothoracic transplant pathway. The post holder will work closely with the MDT to deliver holistic care including pre-assessment, prehabilitation, respiratory care & rehabilitation within critical care/ward environments & out-patient clinics for follow up. There will be opportunities to develop the service & undertake research, with support of the wider MDT, in frailty assessment, prehabilitation & post-op rehabilitation.

The role focus will be on continuing to develop the cardiothoracic transplant pathway as well as supporting the wider cardiothoracic service. In this role you will be supported to undertake significant professional development, through attendance at internal/external courses, opportunity for post grad study, excellent peer support from senior physiotherapy & AHP colleagues, & mentoring through the Trusts career mentoring offer.
The post is full time (37.5 hours), with applications welcomed for part time/job share opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will lead a team of Physiotherapists & Assistant staff alongside Clinical Specialists & other Team Lead Physiotherapists, & will champion the ethos of gold standard care for Cardiothoracic patients.
The successful individual will take a lead role in the advanced assessment & treatment of complex patients & be proactive in developing clinical practice & delivering service improvement within this specialty. Significant post registration experience within this clinical area including acute respiratory skills, critical care rehabilitation skills & specialist knowledge/skills in the assessment & treatment of a wide range of pathologies associated with chronic lung conditions & post-operative rehabilitation are essential. The successful individual will prioritise & manage a diverse caseload of post-operative Cardiothoracic in-patients alongside a small population of lung transplant out-patients, to support the ongoing development of the lung transplant pathway and associated research. Keen interest in evidence based practice, clinical education & leadership is essential to the role.
Key skills for this post include confidence in communication, strong leadership, collaborative working, & a personal desire to develop. You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management skills, as well as proactive team leadership & management skills including, teaching, clinical supervision, staff appraisals, management of sickness absence and new staff induction.

* *Appropriate Physiotherapy or professional qualification e.g., MCSP/ BSc or MSc.
* *Registration with Health Care Professions Council

* *Significant post registration experience of which considerable experience has been within intensive care, surgery and respiratory specialties within an acute NHS organisation. To include experience of treating acute and chronic conditions.

* *Significant experience in education and clinical training of others.
* *Some experience of clinical/service evaluation.
* *Proficient knowledge and skill in the specialist assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute trauma patients.

* *Awareness of current evidence in Cardiothoracic physiotherapy and application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
