This LSA role is in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19, all of whom have experienced significant trauma and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The focus is on holistic and restorative practices, creating empathy wherever possible. The school is committed to avoiding punitive measures, using manual handling training only when absolutely necessary.
A practical trial day will take place in the school to ensure the role is suitable for you. This is dependent on your availability to start ASAP, considering any notice period or if you are finishing University.

In addition, can you ensure the children's safety? You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA Training. As an aspiring clinical psychologist, over the course of 10 years of qualification, you will need to identify areas of genuine interest and where your skills need enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support secondary-aged students with EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying levels of social anxiety.
2. Engage in physical work while being pragmatic, ensuring academic progress tailored to each child's context.
3. Manage some anti-social behavior as part of the role, with training and support provided by the school.
4. Implement various therapies and holistic processes; small progress is celebrated as a success.
5. Address needs related to Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
6. Focus on the cognitive diversity of students, engaging positively and providing a sense of acceptance.
7. Offer students objectives and promote independence, especially for those in assisted living.
