Job Duties
The Norfolk State University Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work seeks applications for an energetic, on-site Coordinator of Recruitment, Admissions, and Student Development.
The Coordinator of Recruitment, Admissions, and Student Development will report directly to the Dean/Associate Dean of the School of Social Work, in addition the candidate will teach one course, as needed, in the undergraduate social work program in the fall and spring semesters. The coordinator will also work closely with program directors in the school's undergraduate (BSW), masters (MSW), and doctoral (PhD) programs in facilitating recruitment, admissions, and the development of students.
Major responsibilities include the following:
1. Recruitment of prospective students for the school's academic programs
2. Facilitate in-person (internal/external) and virtual recruitment events
3. Coordinate the admissions process for the Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral Programs in Social Work, assisted by the program directors and faculty.
4. Play a key role in prospect management, communications activities, nurturing campaigns, and relationship management.
5. Keep accurate records on prospective, accepted/admitted, and enrolled students for each program.
6. Assist program directors with orientation activities for new and continuing students.
7. Be able to identify trends and changes in enrollment data and provide useful solutions.
8. Participation and reporting in monthly school staff/faculty meetings.
9. Promoting student development and academic achievement through establishing tutoring, mentoring, referrals, support and engagement in curricular activities and service learning.
10. Be able to work some evenings, overnight, and weekends; some travel is required.
This is NON-TENURE TRACK.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Must possess a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program highly desirable, but willing to consider candidates with a master's degree in a related area;
2. Must have a minimum of three years of post-master's practice experience in a social service agency or in a higher education setting.
3. Demonstrated proficiency with the use of technology programs (i.e., Excel, Facebook, Instagram, TEAMS, Zoom) and resources (Blackboard) to assist and aid in the delivery of course content.
Additional Considerations
1. Teaching experience at the community college, college, or university level.
2. Experience with student development and programming; especially working with first generation students.
3. Be able to multi-task and meet deadlines
