Job Title: HG Vehicle Technician Location: Bridgend Rate: £15.84/hr Job Type: Full-time, Shift-based with On-call Rota Standard Schedule: 37 hours/week Mon-Fri 08:00-16:00 About the Role Are you a skilled and experienced HG Vehicle Technician looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment? We are seeking a qualified professional to carry out inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a diverse range of vehicles and plant, including specialist and alternative-fuelled vehicles. If youre passionate about keeping fleets running efficiently and safely, we want to hear from you What Youll Be Doing: Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections, servicing, and repairs on a wide variety of vehicles, ensuring they meet Department of Transport and VOSA standards. Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Use specialist IT equipment to diagnose faults, errors, and engine management codes, ordering necessary parts and ensuring efficient repairs. MOT & Compliance: Train to MOT standard and carry out MOTs on both light and heavy commercial vehicles. Prepare vehicles for annual MOT/plating tests and deliver them to testing stations. On-the-Road Support: Attend roadside breakdowns and provide recovery services when needed. Electrical & Mechanical Work: Undertake electrical installations of accessories and ancillary equipment, test and repair digital control systems, and work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles: Adapt to new technologies as the fleet transitions to electric and hybrid vehicles, conducting relevant maintenance and repairs. Supervision & Training: Support and mentor apprentices, workshop assistants, and work experience placements. Customer Service: Ensure excellent service delivery to both internal and external customers, maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. What You Need: Qualifications: oQCF Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Mechanics. oVOSA qualification for nominated testing (or willingness to train). oCategory C Driving License. oIMI Level 4 in Electric Vehicles (or experience working unsupervised to that standard). Experience: oConsiderable experience in vehicle inspections and maintenance to MOT standard. oKnowledge of a diverse range of vehicles, from small plant to 44-ton operational vehicles. oExperience using digital diagnostic systems. oFamiliarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
