Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Programme Manager to oversee a portfolio of complex Defence development programmes. This role is crucial for delivering solutions that meet business objectives while ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets. The successful candidate will drive profitable growth within the Control Systems Account and ensure consistent reporting to senior management, stakeholders, and customers. Key Responsibilities: Lead and direct a diverse, multi-functional matrix team through all phases of the programme development lifecycle. Serve as the primary interface to external customers and senior stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships to ensure programme delivery and high customer satisfaction. Establish and be accountable for key programme milestones, plans, resources, schedules, and budgets. Produce product roadmaps and business cases for investment approval. Manage the preparation and negotiation of bids, contracts, subcontracts, and contract changes. Identify and manage programme and portfolio risks and issues, implementing appropriate solutions. Conduct programme management reviews and meetings as required. Support the Account Lead in developing and growing a professional and engaged team. Ensure compliance with all policies, processes, and procedures. Person Specification: Essential Qualifications/Experience: Proven leadership experience in complex Defence programme management, including change management. Successful delivery of development and in-service programmes for high-value, long-term projects and services. Strong communication skills to influence senior internal and external stakeholders. Ability to translate and present complex technical concepts to management and customers. Expertise in recognized bid, project, programme, portfolio, and service management frameworks (e.g., Shipley, PMI, APM, MSP, Prince II, ITIL), including earned value management techniques. Competency in MS Office, including MS Project or other industry-recognized project scheduling tools. Expertise in risk and opportunity management. Preferred Qualifications/Experience: Extensive experience in developing and executing go-to-market and solution delivery strategies for submarine command and control systems, naval C2, C4ISR, and strategic communications systems. Operational experience with a front-line command (e.g., Army, RAF, RN) is an advantage. Competency/Skill Requirements: Commercial acumen and deep understanding of business financials.
