We support students between the ages of 8-19 years to gain valuable life skills, qualifications, and confidence to move forward in their lives.
Spring Hill has a successful tradition of supporting students with Autism, Social Emotional, Mental Health, and Complex Needs, to gain valuable guidance, life skills, qualifications, and confidence to support their journey towards independence. The main focus of this role will be to:
1. Follow plans and directions from the Teacher or Instructor.
2. Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support learners.
3. Assist with the development and implementation of learner behaviour support plans, individual risk assessments, and communication strategies.
4. Establish productive working relationships with learners, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
5. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all learners within an educational environment.
6. Support learners consistently whilst recognizing and responding to their individual needs.
7. Encourage learners to interact positively and work cooperatively with others and engage all learners in activities.
8. Promote independence and employ strategies to recognize and reward achievement of self-reliance.
9. Provide feedback to learners and your line manager in relation to progress, achievement, and problems.
10. Work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
11. Collaborate with the teacher in lesson planning, evaluating, and adjusting lessons/work plans as appropriate.
Candidate Profile:
1. Experience of working with children and/or young people in an educational establishment.
2. Experience of working with complex needs.
3. Knowledge of the Educational, Health, Care Plan process.
4. Knowledge of Data Protection Act and confidentiality issues.
5. Hold a recognized qualification (NVQ level 3 or equivalent) or working towards this within the 1st year.
6. Good general standard of education, particularly English & Maths at GCSE Level C or equivalent.
7. Strong IT skills.
8. L2 Certificate in Understanding Autism (desirable).
