The Ministry of Education invites applications for the following education role within the Government school system for 2025/26 academic years commencing in January 2025.
Educational Psychologist (Cayman Brac)
Salary range: CI $73,416- CI $96,336 per annum
The educational psychologist provides professional psychological services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, crisis intervention and support services to students within government schools and/or the Early Intervention Programme. The educational psychologist is part of the Student Services team, which comprises of approximately 60 professional and support staff. Student Services is responsible for the provision and co-ordination of assessment, identification and intervention services to children with significant barriers to learning in order to allow them to access the full range of educational opportunities.
The educational psychologist is under the immediate supervision of the Lead Educational Psychologist who reports to the SSIO (SEN) and is a member of a multi-disciplinary team delivering specialized services within the education system.
*Required qualifications, experience & special skills include the following:
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
* Hold a minimum of a master’s degree in School Psychology or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program (a masters or doctoral degree in Educational Psychology will be accepted from relevant jurisdictions) and completion of a supervised internship. A doctoral degree in School Psychology or Clinical Psychology is preferred.
* Possess licensure/certification within their current jurisdiction of practice. Must be eligible for CPAM licensure.
* Have a minimum of 5 years supervised experience in either educational or clinical setting using psychological instruments to evaluate students.
* Have a working knowledge of administration and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological tests, test construction and statistical analysis.
* Experience with children with a wide variety of disabilities is necessary as the job involves working with students with medical, neurological, psychiatric, emotional, behavioural and/or learning problems.
* Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.
* Strong technology skills
* High degree of problem solving, consultation, and collaboration skills
The post-holder must be able to travel between schools so a valid driver’s license would be required.
The post-holder should have experience in the development and contribution of school-wide practices that promote learning as well as in-depth knowledge of special education services.
The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
