About the role…
The good news is that our continued success and business growth has opened up an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven and enthusiastic Health and Safety Manager to join our successful team at our Screwfix contract at Stafford with occasional travel to sister sites. This is a critical role to manage health and safety within the Transport department.
Shift pattern: 08:00 - 16:00 Monday-Friday (contract any 5 from 7)
What you will contribute…
1. You will manage the health and safety function for Transport, including supervision of staff to ensure delivery of objectives.
2. Your responsibilities will include ensuring a safe working environment for employees and visitors on site, and ensuring the depot is operating within health and safety legal requirements and in line with the company policies and procedures.
3. Proactively leading, you will ensure collaborative health and safety projects, both on site and supporting Wincanton group initiatives.
4. You will provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within the designated area of responsibility.
5. By reviewing and auditing arrangements for health & safety management, you will continuously improve these arrangements where appropriate.
6. You will provide strategies to plan and organise work systems to reduce health & safety risks and recommend suitable adaptations to equipment, practices, and processes.
7. Ensure robust reporting regimes are in place for H&S statistics and provide management information and statistics for internal and external stakeholders.
8. Drive behavioural culture change programme across a large, growing, multi-shift operation.
9. Responsible for ensuring all site risk assessments are refreshed and that all training conducted at site is in line with legislative requirements and company best practices.
10. Ensure the site management team are fully equipped to conduct and investigate all accidents and incidents and make proactive changes to site working practices where agreed.
What you will bring…
1. Qualified to NEBOSH certificate level or equivalent with relevant H&S Management experience preferably in a retail/supply chain warehouse environment.
2. Excellent team building, leadership, and motivational skills.
3. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate and influence in an open and honest manner with individuals at all levels within the organisation.
4. Excellent communication and influencing skills – results focused with good organisational and analytical skills.
5. Up to date knowledge of essential UK H&S legislation.
6. Influencing skills and strategies to be able to build buy-in to change.
7. Demonstrable record of driving significant change through an operation.
