Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 per year (Depending on Experience)
Due to continued business expansion, we are seeking a dynamic team player to join our project team based in Ringwood, Hampshire. The ideal candidate will have experience in an MSP environment and possess advanced skills in networking, server support, and wireless technologies.
The Project Engineer will primarily work independently with the support of the senior project team and the support desk.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering dynamic, one-day projects, including configuring and installing network hardware, creating new user accounts, implementing MS365 solutions, and overseeing data migrations. Additionally, the role will involve being a point of escalation for certain customer service requests.
You will oversee the ongoing maintenance of our Microsoft Server Architecture, managing and supporting core services and infrastructure for both cloud and on-premises solutions, including Microsoft M365, as well as computers (both cloud-based and physical laptops/desktops), storage, and networking. This includes ensuring effective management of these environments concerning uptime and capacity management.
The candidate should have a broad range of technological experience covering core services like cabling, networking (including VLANs), and ERP, as well as experience in rapid deployment and agile methodologies. A strong motivation and desire to stay updated with the latest business enabling technologies is essential.
Ideally, you will have over three years of experience in a technical project role within a project-driven environment and be eager to take on a pivotal and challenging role within a cloud-first business.
Please note: This role is based in Ringwood, but travel to client sites may be required to address customer needs and meet service level agreements.
Role and Responsibilities:
Deliver single-day projects and provide support on escalated tickets from the support desk.
Manage daily schedules to ensure project deadlines are met while assisting with service requests and acting as an escalation point for the support desk.
Oversee the life cycle of projects to ensure an excellent customer experience.
Attend client sites to resolve reported issues and install necessary hardware and cabling.
Provide advanced support in networking, infrastructure, and Wi-Fi.
Escalate cases as required.
Ensure timely updates of support case information.
Update all support, project, and customer documentation as needed.
Assist with administrative duties when required.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Organized and self-motivated with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
Proficient in influencing others, setting expectations, and coordinating projects.
Solid understanding of network technologies and networking fundamentals.
Technical expertise in a full stack of Microsoft Technologies (Windows 10, Intune MDM, Active Directory, Azure, Security, MS365, etc.).
Experience with high-level and low-level solution design and implementation.
Knowledge of Draytek (or similar) Unified Threat Management Systems and Firewalls.
Familiarity with UniFi (or similar) wireless access points and network switches.
In-depth understanding of network protocols, routing, subnets, and VLANs.
Desired Experience (but not essential):
Familiarity with remote support tools such as AnyDesk, Pulseway, or Automate.
Professional qualifications (e.g., CISCO, Microsoft).
Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.
Office 365 migration experience.
Salary and Benefits:
Competitive salary of £36,000 - £40,000 per year (depending on experience).
Core hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
