Hours - 4 day week Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week

The Role
Thales Underwater Systems delivers a state of the art Sonar capability for UK and International Navies. Our systems are developed for a wide range of significant defence projects, including the Astute and Dreadnought class submarines, Merlin helicopters, Type 23 frigates and the Hunt class mine countermeasures vessel.
As a Thales Production Repair Operator, you will become a key member of the manufacturing team based at our site in Templecombe where we are producing the next-generation of Sonar technologies, for which we are world-renowned.
Having ideally already gained some practical experience within electrical or mechanical engineering this is an opportunity for you to further your technical skills and knowledge and really start to build a successful career with a leader in their field. Full training and support will be constantly provided and the sky really is the limit for those who want to progress.
Individuals who may be lacking some commercial experience but have attained relevant BTEC’s NVQ’s or similar will also be considered if they can demonstrate the drive, passion and potential needed.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
The successful candidates will be accountable for performing manufacturing operations in accordance with appropriate engineering drawings and documents, by working within the allocated times and the required quality criteria.
You will assist in the development and production of Conformal Panels in line with required standards and Quality and through collaboration and teamwork.
1. Manufacture of Conformal Panels
2. Ensuring any quality non-conformances are logged and escalated to the Inspector/QA rep
3. Focus on time delivery (OTD), ensuring delivery is made on time and to plan
4. Escalate blockers and issues to Layer Leader
5. Understand and follow Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH guidance. Ensure all incidents are logged correctly and escalated to H&S leaders as appropriate
6. Ensuring 5S standards are met

12. Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
13. Level 2 BTEC or NVQ, ONC, City and Guilds Electrical or equivalent.
14. An additional 3 years practical Operator experience may negate the requirement for formal qualifications
