The Organisation: A responsible and progressive charity, aiming to provide social justice and support to vulnerable groups of people across the UK; victims of domestic violence, ex-offenders, young people, people with mental health difficulties and those struggling with substance misuse. This company are currently operating supported housing services for rehabilitating ex-offenders that have left a prison setting. The service ensures the instilling of independent living skills, positive wellbeing and personal development within ex-offenders, working towards their bettering of life and prevention of repeat offending. The Opportunities: Housing Support Workers will be working full-time; 40hrs per week 35 paid, 5 hours unpaid lunch, rolling 3-week rota 10hr shifts 8am-6pm (Week 1 Tuesday-Friday, Week 2 Monday-Thursday, Week 3 Thursday-Sunday) Competitive pay rates; Hub Leads are paid £19.01 (Umbrella), per hour. You will also be paid £0.45 per mile for travel between services. Contract length will be 3-months before prospective extension and/or permanence. You will be based across the whole of Grantham. Administration work can be completed in a flexible location, with state-of-the-art IT equipment provided for all work. Working with these service users - Young people aged 16-21yrs, including Children in Care, Care Leaver and Young Parents The Responsibilities: Support the team to work with young people offering creative and innovative opportunities for them to improve their quality of life develop their skills and make decisions about their future providing guidance and leading support to staff teams on complex cases. Liaise with Intensive Need and Placement Lead regarding vacancies and referrals. Support the team to and work co-operatively with children’s services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the most effective service for young people and their families. Support the team to keep appropriate records of interventions with young people, and inform other staff of relevant issues. Carry-out, as appropriate to the post, day to day tasks on a scheduled basis and when necessary in the absence of Support Workers, to ensure a continuity of service. Liaise with external agencies including local statutory and voluntary services and ensure information is available to Support Workers and young people relating to these services at all times ensuring that effective relationships are established and maintained with local partners. Encourage and facilitate young person’s involvement in the development and operation of the service, facilitating appropriate consultation and participation, at all times promoting good practice in relation to participation. Manage the 24/7 rota, maintaining project cover at all times and respond promptly to staff absences due to annual leave or sickness Deputise for other Hub Leads in their absence. Participate fully in evidencing outcomes for young people as per contractual requirements completing weekly, monthly and quarterly monitoring documentation Participate in the on call rota to give advice and guidance to staff on duty and service users and manage any emergency situations that may arise outside of office hours. Ensure that, housing and property management tasks are effectively undertaken in line with procedure and targets. Ensure that properties comply with property standards and are well maintained and equipped, that staff undertake all the required health & safety checks, taking any necessary redial action and carrying out minor DIY tasks. To ensure that routine property maintenance and damage is reported and recharged promptly to maintenance staff and to co-operate with them in meeting repair response times. To ensure that flats are always adequately equipped, furnished, and cleaned, by organising, purchasing or working with others on practical tasks. Where required, the cleaning and equipping of properties is to be undertaken by Support Workers. Undertake development activities as necessary and appropriate to the role. Participate, with other staff, in providing a broad range of activities and services (which take into account individual clients circumstances and preferences) aimed at enabling clients to live with reducing levels of support when appropriate. Be a member of the management team and actively participate in management meetings as necessary. Deal with complaints in accordance with the agreed procedures. Ensure service meets the quality agenda as set out internally us and externally by Children’s Services and continually strive to improve service delivery. The Requirements: Housing Support Worker’s must be someone with a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle, and either already have or obtain business/commercial insurance for said vehicle. Experience in supporting clients / service-users’ with complex needs is essential. Proactive and able to use their own initiative to manage a caseload. Previous experience or knowledge of social/supported housing processes is essential. The ability to support others in their tenancy sustainment and income management. Must have an ENHANCED DBS (on update service) Adults & Children The Desirables: Relevant training to housing or health and social care. Over 3 years’ experience within a relevant position i.e., Support Worker. Understanding of housing law and framework relevant to those with complex needs.
