Catering Assistant
Lancashire
£11.44 per hour
Hours: BANK

Purpose
To assist in the provision of meals and refreshments, and the maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment. This varies across locations.
Key Relationships
• This role carries no line management responsibilities.
• Responsible for working alongside and/or supporting volunteers within their team.
Qualifications Required
• Level 2 food hygiene certificate or willing and able to complete within 2 weeks of starting employment.
Experience, Skills and Ability
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Able to work within policies and procedures.
• Experience of working in a similar environment.
Complexity and Accountability
• This post holds no budgetary responsibility but will be expected to ensure costs and expenditures are kept within agreed limits.
• In the absence of the Chef, ensure that all catering staff follow Brainkind policies and procedures.
• Accountable to follow all food and personal hygiene procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible to assist in the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments.
2. Responsible for washing up used utensils, pans, and crockery in the dishwasher, hand washing certain items as appropriate.
3. To clean kitchen work surfaces, equipment, floors, fridges, freezers, and other storage cupboards in line with cleaning schedules and record as instructed.
4. Responsible to ensure all equipment is stored away and the kitchen left clean and tidy at the end of each shift.
5. Reporting of equipment faults and repair and maintenance needs in line with local procedures.
6. Monitoring and reporting supplies requirements.
7. To record all information as required by Brainkind policies and procedures.
8. To ensure that meals and refreshments are attractive to service users and in line with Brainkind standards.
9. To assist the Head Chef and Chef to provide services that meet the Brainkind and regulatory body standards.
10. Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.
