Mechanical Maintenance Assistant Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, NR4 7UY Full time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week) Salary: £23,200.32 - £27,389.71 depending on experience, plus Serco benefits. Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital puts its patients at the heart of everything they do. The Hospital cares for the people of Norfolk, north Suffolk and further afield, providing almost one million out-patient appointments, day case procedures and in-patient admissions every year. The hospital has 1,200 beds and state of the art facilities and works closely with the University of East Anglia to train health professionals and have a strong focus on research. Reporting into the Engineering Supervisors you will be part of the engineering team providing electrical, mechanical and building maintenance across the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital site as part of Serco’s Hard FM estates service to the NHS. Main Accountabilities: The post holder will ensure that the hospitals’ building, fabric, plant, electrical and mechanical services and equipment are maintained to a high standard and ensure their continued safety, efficiency and reliability. You will undertake electrical, mechanical and building planned preventative maintenance as well as first response to carry out minor repairs. This will typically include: Fire alarm testing. Lamp replacement and light cleaning. Emergency light testing. Replacement of nurse call leads and emergency pull chords. Fire sprinkler testing. Medical Gas routine testing. Assist with lift entrapment. Boiler safety checks to include chemical dosage checks. Ventilation grille cleaning. Water safety to include temperature monitoring, water sampling, TMV servicing etc. Repair leaking taps. Meter readings. Fire extinguisher checks. Replacement of fixtures and fittings. Involvement in planned Operating Theatre maintenance work. What you’ll need to do the role: To be considered for this role you will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar maintenance role and working within a large complex service organisation. It is preferable that you have knowledge of building and engineering trades as this will be an advantage. You will need to demonstrate a professional approach, strong awareness to health & safety, good communication and customer service skills and be able to work well in high pressure situations.
