A permanent Advanced Healthcare Science Assistant – Band 3 post has become available within the Genetic Service for an individual qualified to SVQ3 level as a minimum, preferably with a Higher in a science subject. Although previous laboratory experience is not essential, applicants must have experience of handling samples and/or reagents and be prepared to work with blood and tissue samples including fetal material. The positions would suit those wishing to start a career in Healthcare Science. The successful applicants will work with other members of the Technical Team under the direction of Senior Practitioners and the Team Leader to carry out a defined set of laboratory and administrative procedures required by the Service. The successful applicants will handle patient samples and perform tasks that contribute to diagnostic reports and therefore must work in a careful and meticulous manner according to standard operating procedures. The Regional Genetic Service is a large friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff who provide a first-class service to patients and families from Tayside and NE Fife and elsewhere in Scotland. The Service offers modern, well equipped facilities situated within Ninewells Hospital.
