A vacancy has arisen for a dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Occupational Therapy team which is based within acute adult mental health in-patient services within Pennine locality. The team provides occupational therapy input into all the in-patient wards at Pendleview, Royal Blackburn Hospital, and Woodview at Whalley. The team consists of OTs, Occupational Therapy assistants, and Recovery Support workers who work collaboratively with the Inpatient multi-disciplinary team to promote a model of Recovery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist who has a commitment to further developing their skills within a mental health setting. We will require at least 18 months post-registration experience, with at least 12 months of this working within a mental health setting.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide assessments, plan and deliver interventions for people whose mental health problems have a marked impact on their occupational functioning and who have complex occupational needs. The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage their own time and work proactively to meet the fast pace and demands of the service. They will require excellent communication skills and an ability to work flexibly to facilitate timely discharges.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/BSC (Hons) in Occupational Therapy (OT)
* State registered with Health Professionals Council
* Post Graduate training relevant to mental health work in appropriate speciality
* Practice Placement Qualification (Undergraduate OT student educator) within 1 year of appointment
Knowledge
* Detailed knowledge of how mental health problems impact on occupational performance and how occupational therapy theory informs practice within mental health settings
* Knowledge of current best practice in inpatient mental health and awareness of relevant government directives and legislation
* Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions using expert level clinical reasoning.
Experience
* Extensive clinical experiences including individual and group work in mental health specialties
Skills
* Ability to devise specialist interventions to address occupational dysfunction to improve occupational performance
* Confidently assess and manage risk in relation to occupational performance
