We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical psychologist with significant experience of working in learning disability services to take up the post of Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist, Band 8B, in the Department of Psychology’s Learning Disabilities Service. You will work closely with the Professional Lead for Learning Disability Psychology and the other Senior Principal Psychologist to lead the delivery of high quality, effective psychology services for people with learning disabilities across NHS Lothian. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in leadership, service development, supervision of qualified psychologists, and delegated line management of applied psychology staff, as well as building on your existing experience of complex case work. There is likely to be a requirement for the post holder to provide clinical input and leadership across different tiers of NHS Lothian’s learning disability service, including to designated CLDTs and to our inpatient services.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about providing excellent psychological services to people with learning disabilities and their carers, both directly and through playing a part in the ongoing development of the learning disabilities service. As the post involves providing supervision and leadership to both qualified psychologists and pre-qualified team members, it is essential you are skilled and confident in addressing the wide variety of psychological needs that we see in learning disability services. A clear aptitude for multi-disciplinary working and a commitment to a multi-disciplinary model of service delivery are also both key to this post.
The Department provides a friendly, supportive and stimulating environment in which to work. Staff within our service have a range of clinical interests reflecting a variety of theoretical and therapeutic orientations, and an emphasis is placed on good clinical supervision and support.
NHS Lothian is committed to fair and equitable conditions of employment and as an organisation it recognises that employees may require to change their place of residence as a result of taking up a post and so will ensure that where this is the case employees are reimbursed appropriately.
