An opportunity has arisen to join a community Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team. The team provides IPAC services internally to NCH&C and externally to all emerging infections e.g. MPox, Meningococcal Meningitis, Avian flu, Tuberculosis. This role provides an exciting diverse range of activity across Norfolk and Waveney footprint.
Main duties of the job
The post is accountable to the IPAC Deputy Lead Practitioner for the day-to-day IP&C management across NCHC and to an ongoing improvement in the quality of the patient's experience. The post holder has a responsibility to monitor and act upon standards of Infection Prevention & Control that fall below the acceptable standard and legislative responsibilities. This position is involved in ensuring the Trust complies with its legislative and licensing requirements, i.e., The Health and Social Care Act 2008, and for the provision of specialist advice and guidance for all health care professionals and support staff across the Trust. To respond to emerging infection / communicable disease in the wider Norfolk and Waveney community.
Job responsibilities
* To act as a subject matter expert (SME) demonstrating advanced knowledge and skill beyond that associated with traditional nursing roles, including the integration of research evidence into practice by expert clinical reasoning and decision making.
* As an acknowledged expert in the provision of patient management in relation to Infection Prevention & Control, the post holder will, where required, make independent clinical decisions, initiate investigations, and be responsible for advising on the management of defined group/groups of patients.
* To utilise clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based knowledge in the management of patients with highly complex presentations and to be clinically competent to utilise expert skills and knowledge in a variety of clinical settings.
* To develop, establish and implement guidelines and clinician-led initiatives, particularly where precedents do not exist.
* To implement the strategic and operational plan of IP&C services.
* Embed the development of professional practice within the Trust, in relation to IP&C.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or other registered clinical qualification.
* Master's degree in Infection Control (or willingness to begin within 1 year of appointment).
* Evidence of IPS competencies.
* Teaching qualification / experience.
* Management or leadership course/qualification.
Experience
* Experience of working in IPAC.
* Experience of working in community-based services.

* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
* Ability to develop and deliver training programmes.
* Assertive and able to deal with colleagues, patients, and the public at all levels.

* Sound knowledge of Infection Control Policies / Practices.
* Knowledge of the principles and practice of surveillance.
* Demonstrate sound evidence-based approach to applying information.
* Knowledge of governance and risk management.
* Working knowledge of Datix.
Other
* Able to establish positive relationships and mutual respect.
* Confident and resilient and able to deal with conflict.
* UK driver's license.
