Head of QA Capability Management, Senior QA Test Manager, Remote
Head of QA Capability Management / Senior IT Test Manager, Hands On Test Lead required to work for a fast growing business based in Central London. This will be primarily remote with some travel to the Central London offices and occasional global travel. All travel and accommodation expenses will be paid. Please read in full before applying.
As this role has global coverage, there may be some early or late calls. You must be prepared for this. Flexibility will be provided, but we seek someone dedicated and not strictly adhering to a 9am – 5pm schedule.
This role focuses on enhancing an Automation QA function. We need someone with solid Agile experience who understands Agile methodologies thoroughly.
Although this is a hands-on role combined with strategic responsibilities, you will need excellent Stakeholder Management skills and proven Leadership experience. You will engage with the business, listen to their needs, and recommend tools to implement based on this. Some tools may have already been decided prior to your arrival, and it is important to respect these decisions.
This is like a QA Automation playground where you will have significant autonomy to shape the role. The function will grow, providing further opportunities.
You will be responsible for developing standards and processes, implementing governance, leading a team (internal employees and third-party vendors), and being assertive in your approach to get things done. If you need key leaders to start work early to facilitate your plan, you should be strong enough to command this.
We require someone who understands end-to-end Quality Assurance, has extensive exposure to it, and can maintain quality throughout. New Products will be introduced rapidly, which may feel overwhelming initially, but support will be available, and the team will grow. We need someone capable of managing this dynamic environment.
Ideal experience required:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline (e.g., University degree), vendor-aligned certification in quality or testing (e.g., ISQTB) required.
2. 5+ years’ experience delivering Information Technology Services in a complex, professional environment, demonstrating hands-on knowledge of all aspects of the IT Quality Assurance process.
3. 3+ years’ experience in a team lead or management position, ideally with team management responsibilities in an IT environment.
4. Extensive knowledge of various testing techniques and methodologies, across functional (unit, integration, system, acceptance) & non-functional (security, performance, compatibility, etc.).
5. Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
6. Proficient in various testing tools and methods, such as ISTQB, ISEB, PMP, QAI, 9001, ISO, HP, CAPM, SILK, ALM, ADO.
7. Demonstrable ability in the creation and development of Quality Strategies, Policies and Test Plans.
8. Experience in delivering quality management frameworks and systems.
9. Proficiency in test management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA, HP ALM).
10. Experience with automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, QTP, Cypress, LoadRunner).
11. Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, SQL).
12. Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
13. Fundamental knowledge of the ITIL framework and/or other IT Service Management methodologies; 3+ years’ experience working in an environment with processes based on the ITIL framework preferred.
14. Experience using IT Service Management systems, preferably ServiceNow.
15. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of new service elements for complex line of business applications and services.
16. Demonstrated teamwork, problem solving, initiative, and integrity.
17. In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant standards (e.g., ISO9001).
18. Excellent interpersonal and written English communication skills.
19. Extensive experience with quality portfolio and program management best practices.
20. Proven experience in overseeing the design, packaging, testing, and deployment of software releases.
21. High competence with flowchart and process mapping tools and procedures.
22. Ability to manage risks and issues operationally and tactically.
23. Strong documentation skills to ensure all documented information and processes are well understood by development and support teams.
