Our people work across the range of Frazer-Nash clients. What do we look for in a Flow and Process Systems Engineer? We are looking for people with a strong technical skillset and good communication skills, who are keen to find practical solutions to our client’s engineering challenges in different contexts, such as: Analysing and understanding fluid flow, heat transfer or process system performance in different contexts, such as developing overall heat and material balances, predicting system flow performance, or addressing detailed aspects of fluid flow and heat transfer (e.g. using hand calculations or Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD), Working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to design new systems or develop modifications to existing plant, reducing risks and supporting successful project delivery, Developing relationships with new and existing clients, understanding issues, tailoring our skills to develop solutions and helping them to operate safety and protect the environment. Taking the lead: Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project. Requirements The successful applicant will meet the following minimum requirements: You’ll enjoy using your solid understanding of practical thermofluid mechanics or process engineering, gained from a Master’s or post-graduate degree/PhD in Engineering or Chemical Engineering, or a similar level of training. You’ll be familiar with using detailed modelling approaches such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to understand complex flow fields and heat transfer (e.g. using Fluent, CFX, Star-CCM etc). You’ll have some experience of working with stakeholders to plan work and agree budgets, and some experience of managing small packages of work to time, quality and cost. You’ll be able to use your communication skills to engage effectively with project stakeholders internally and externally, both verbally and through crisp and focused writing. Any of the following would also be of interest, but are not essential: Experience of supporting fluid process system design, including supporting activities such as developing requirements and design substantiation and analysis work (e.g. using Hysys, Unisim, Flomaster, Amesim etc). Experience of providing technical and commercial leadership for small project teams. A relevant post-graduate degree. Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
