JOB PURPOSE To become a member of the teaching team in current courses of study and assist with future developments. Post Lecturer in Essential Skills Numeracy and GCSE Mathematics Ref S42/25 Salary (£)Directorate £30,000 - £39,495 per annum (plus £3,067 Threshold and £1,596 Deane Payment if applicable) Curriculum and Information Services Unit School of Arts and Sport Reports to Head of School Location Campus to be confirmed, but will be required to be available for work at any of the College sites as required Total hours of work 1 FTE. 1440 annualised hours of which up to 828 hours shall be for student contact time and the remainder shall be for associated duties. However, the post holder will be required to adopt a flexible approach (including evening work) and to devote such time as may be required by the exigencies of the service. JOB PURPOSE To become a member of the teaching team in current courses of study and assist with future developments. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, deliver and assess GCSE Mathematics and Essential Skills Numeracy in the College. Fulfil the role of class tutor with administrative and pastoral responsibilities. Co-ordinate the teaching and assessment of GCSE Mathematics and Essential Skills Numeracy programmes, as identified by the Head of School, which includes liaison with other College staff. Develop ILT resources appropriate for teaching and learning in the subject area and promote the use of library and resource centres. Complete, review and evaluate quality of provision in line with IQ: RS and awarding body requirements. Maintain and develop links with stakeholders, schools, colleges and Universities with the aim of promoting GCSE Mathematics and Essential Skills Numeracy. Participate in staff training and development activities to update and enhance own knowledge, skills and professional competence needed to carry out role effectively. Contribute to and participate in marketing, recruitment, induction and other appropriate events. Co-ordinate programmes of study. 10. Participate and/or lead subject and school team meetings and any other meetings when required. Complete as required all administrative tasks associated with the post. Participate in achieving outcomes required by the Training Organisation to achieve funding. Any other duties as required by the Head of School and Deputy Head of School and may be required to carry out teaching and non-teaching duties on all of the College campuses. NOTES 1. Please note such posts may be based at any College Campus. Selection Criteria Lecturer in Essential Skills Numeracy and GCSE Mathematics Essential Criteria 1. Hold GCSE English (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication; and GCSE Maths (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules; 2. Hold a degree of which Mathematics forms a minimum of 50% of the subject studied. For Existing Essential Skills Lecturers / Tutors (those who met the qualification requirements applicable prior to August 2012) please confirm your qualification details. 3. Have a minimum of 1 years experience in the last 5 years in the delivery of Essential Skills Numeracy or GCSE Mathematics. 4. Have excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills 5. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. Desirable Assessment Criteria 1. Experience teaching either Essential Skills Literacy or Essential Skills ICT. 2.
