About the Role…
The M&A Team is responsible for all aspects of the M&A process, from deal origination through to execution. Our mandate is a global one, seeking to buy subscription based B2B companies providing business intelligence. We typically focus on deals with a value of GBP 20m-100m, focusing on transactions with entrepreneurs and buyouts from corporates and PE funds. We pride ourselves on being able to move quickly to complete deals and this is reflected in the fast-paced culture of both GD and the M&A team.
Reporting to the M&A Director, you will be an integral part of our M&A team, working on all aspects of the process but with a key focus on financial analysis.
What you’ll be doing…
1. Perform market research and analysis, including analysis of key business drivers and market, competition and industry risk and opportunity analysis.
2. Synthesize research to be used in modelling, competitive analysis, industry analysis, negotiation support and various other applications.
3. Prepare detailed financial models, including scenario analysis.
4. Prepare valuation analysis using a range of valuation techniques, including discounted cash flow analysis, comparable market multiples and precedent transaction analysis.
5. Assist in the due diligence process.
6. Prepare marketing materials and investment memos.
What we’re looking for…
1. Degree educated, with a specialism of finance, accounting or economics preferred.
2. Several years of work experience in a related field.
3. Motivated individual with high career aspirations and a strong work ethic.
4. An ability to work independently to complete tasks.
5. An ability to work well under pressure with multiple competing deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail.
6. Results oriented and energetic self-starter.
7. Strong computer (specifically Excel and PowerPoint) and financial modelling skills.
8. Excellent analytical, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
9. Working knowledge of UK and International Finance and Accounting concepts and principles as it relates to M&A transactions.
10. Strong written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
11. Ability to develop relationships and rapport with GD colleagues at all levels.
