Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and flexible Principal Clinical/ counselling psychologist to join our friendly, dynamic and busy early intervention services based in Cambridge and Peterborough.
As Principal Clinical psychologist for the Cameo South team you will be part of the psychological management team alongside a Principal Clinical psychologist in the Cameo North team and a Consultant Clinical psychologist (service wide) to assist with the oversight and delivery of the clinical, professional, and strategic aims of the service.
CAMEO is an award-winning CPFT Early Intervention in psychosis service offering an age inclusive service (14-65 years) across a three-year pathway. Cameo was established in 2002 and the service has had a significant impact on the development of the Early Intervention model across the UK and internationally. The successful applicant will be based in CAMEO South multidisciplinary team and will form part of the senior leadership team consisting of team managers, consultant psychiatrists and advanced nurse practitioners. They will work with experienced clinical psychologists / CBTp therapists involved in the engaging, assessing, supporting and enhancing outcomes for individuals and families experiencing first episode of psychosis across a broad range of community settings under the overall co-ordination of a Consultant Psychologist.
Main duties of the job
1. You will undertake a lead role in ensuring the systematic provision of a highly quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients of the CAMEO service, across all sectors of care.
2. To carry out, supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists/therapists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment in the Cameo South team.
3. The psychologist will work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance and supervision of the psychological practice within the Cameo Service. This role will include psychological assessment and individualised, formulation-driven interventions within a CBT framework as part of service user's overall multi-disciplinary team care plan.
4. The post holder is part of the Adult and Specialist Mental health directorate and will receive supervision, professional support and guidance from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist who oversees the service.

Job responsibilities
1. You will undertake a lead role in ensuring the systematic provision of a highly quality specialist clinical psychology service to clients of the CAMEO service, across all sectors of care.
2. To provide clinical leadership in the identification, assessment, treatment and evaluation of first episode psychosis (FEP) and At Risk Mental state (ARMS) cases in the CAMEO South team with particular emphasis on promoting an accessible, safe and effective service.
3. To carry out, supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists/therapists and other members of the team providing psychologically based care and treatment.
4. To develop psychological formulations of presenting problems or situations that integrate information from assessments within a coherent framework that draws upon psychological theory and evidence, and which incorporates interpersonal, societal, cultural, and biological factors.
5. To develop and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
6. To provide a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.
7. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures.
8. To evaluate and make decisions about psychological treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
9. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based care plans.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
1. Post - graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology or counselling psychology, specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
2. Registered as Practitioner Psychologist with HCPC.
3. Formal training in clinical supervision.
Desirable
1. Evidence of post-doctoral training (CBTp, Early Intervention in psychosis, EMDR, psychological interventions for trauma, Family intervention) or other area of specialised areas of psychological practice.
2. Completion of ADOS training skills in assessment of ASD.
Experience
Essential
1. Experience of working with people experiencing psychotic symptoms and their families/working in an EIP setting.
2. In depth experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for service users' psychological care and treatment within the context of a multidisciplinary team setting.
3. Experience of teaching, training, and/or professional and clinical supervision.
4. Experience of application of clinical psychology in different contexts.
Desirable
1. Previous experience of delivering cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis clinical supervision.
2. Experience of working with complex trauma, ASD, neuropsychological assessment.
3. In depth experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care including leadership skills.

1. Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision.
2. Knowledge of and ability to deliver CBTp and behavioural family therapy.
3. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration requiring the use of highly developed analytical and judgement skills.
4. Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance, including regular supervision, to support and maintain clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
5. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.

1. Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities, comorbid conditions).
