Job Description:
About London Southend Airport
Our SENsational colleagues are what make our airport thrive. Our goal is to develop each and every one of our colleagues' skillsets by investing heavily in training and development throughout their careers, creating a culture of internal development and progression. A number of our senior leadership team began their career with us in an entry level role; the sky is the limit here at LSA.
As one of the key employers for Southend City, we aim to ensure our roles are accessible to the community. We are committed to providing equal opportunities and creating an inclusive environment for our colleagues.
Now is an exciting time to join our airport. As a business, we are constantly growing, resulting in a wealth of roles to choose from, including Air Traffic Control, Fueling, Car Parking, Rail, Security, Ground Maintenance, Firefighting, Cleaning, Technical Services, and more. There really isn't a better time to join team SENsational.
About the role
Our Food and Beverage department is key in providing passengers with a smooth and positive journey through our airport. Our Kitchen Porters play a pivotal role in the smooth running of the kitchen, ensuring passengers are satisfied before they travel. Here's what you'll do:
* Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and all preparation areas.
* Clean and sanitise all kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery, and utensils.
* Store dishes and utensils properly.
* Support the Chef with food and dessert preparation, including washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients.
* Organise the stock room.
* Embody the Airport's 'One Team' culture and undertake other activities as needed.
* Work flexible shifts during operating hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We can teach you everything else, but to succeed in this role, you should:
* Have experience working in a kitchen (advantageous but not essential).
* Have knowledge of food safety.
If you require any reasonable adjustments, please discuss this during the interview process.
We also offer an outstanding benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and job satisfaction, including:
* Fully funded apprenticeships from level 3 to level 7.
* Medicash healthcare plan including virtual GP & Physio appointments, retail discounts, and health expense claims.
* Access to a wellbeing app with mood tracking, live chat, and counselling.
* Employee Assistance Programme for confidential support.
* Gym discounts of up to 25% at over 3,800 gyms nationwide.
* Qualified Mental Health First Aiders available at the airport.
* Cycle to Work Scheme offering significant savings on bikes and accessories.
* World Duty Free discount.
