We currently have a Central Technician position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,218 per annum (£36,261 including 20% shift allowance) plus excellent benefits.
About the role
As the Central Support Technician, you will provide out of hours central support to Waste Water Services by working alongside the Alarm Team & Central Duty Manager to provide enhanced alarm WWS alarm triage and pro-active interventions, responding to alerts and triggers from SSC systems and initiatives such as Meniscus & Burst Detect, and to support the Central Duty Manager in pollution and event management. This role works a 24/7 shift pattern, working 6 days on with 4 days off (2x Mornings/2x Afternoons/2x Nights) with the following shift times:
1. 06:30 – 14:45
2. 14:30 – 22:45
3. 22:30 – 06:45
What you'll be doing:
1. Provide enhanced out of hours alarm triage and investigation of Waste Water alarms, utilising SCADA signals, trend data alongside other systems to interrogate, risk assess and triage alarms to manage pollution and compliance risk whilst minimising out of hours disturbance and resource implications.
2. Pro-actively monitor and respond to alerts from SSC systems to aid in pollution interventions, identification and response (BeachLive, Detetronics, Mensicus, Burst Detect etc).
3. Support the Waste Water Central Duty Manager with pollution incident response and management, liaising with stakeholders and keeping systems and records updated with incident progress, actions and resolution.
4. Provide resilience cover for the Central Duty Manager role during periods of absence.
5. Work with and coach the Alarm Team in the management and triage of waste water alarms & contacts/escalations.
6. Provide in-hours regional support to the operational teams, FSCs and Pro-active Alarm Coordinators to promote and achieve a pro-active approach to compliance and pollution risk mitigation.
7. Communicate and liaise with the internal and external stakeholders regulators as required.
8. Minimise out of hours disturbance for WWS Duty Standby Area Managers and field team members.
9. Participate in 24/7 shift rotation.
What we are looking for:
1. 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths, English & a Science subject A Level or equivalent.
2. Recognised Water Industry qualification.
3. Proven experience working in an operational control room.
4. To be able to adjust and reprioritise workloads according to operational demands.
5. Ability to participate in 24/7 shift rotation.
