The Fleet Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's transportation processes in a Regional Area. This includes developing policies and procedures to ensure that organizational equipment needs are met, participating in the development and approval of equipment-related budgets, providing evaluations, and selecting equipment vendors. The role involves managing the movement of equipment to and from active worksites, coordinating periodic inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, arranging for preventative maintenance or repairs as needed, and coordinating training sessions for equipment operators. You will work closely with the Directors, Operation Managers, PDC's repairs, Drivers, and perform cost analysis of Assets within your purview. As Fleet Manager, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of company-owned commercial vehicles, optimize their utilization, and ensure safe and efficient operations within your respective Region.
Responsibilities
1. Maintaining Lease Schedule A's and Asset Budgets
2. Accepting vehicles for deliveries into the Fleet
3. Conducting Vehicle DVIR Review, Procedures, and Safety Inspections
4. Providing input on whether to lease or buy vehicles within the Regional Fleet
5. Coordinating data with Stakeholders, Director of Fleet, and Procurement for CERs
6. Ensuring efficient asset utilization and route planning
7. Coordinating vehicle scheduling and dispatch
8. Monitoring real-time vehicle location and performance
9. Keeping records and identifying areas for improvement
10. Ensuring compliance with transport regulations (e.g., Hours of Service) and safety standards
11. Proficient working knowledge of both State and Federal Truck and Transportation Regulations and Laws within your assigned Region
12. Managing the budget for vehicle repairs and replacements
13. Overseeing the Regional Shops and supervising Mechanics I, II, and III
14. Coordinating vehicle licensure, registration, and insurance
15. Providing reports to upper management on budgeting, maintenance, and fleet progress
16. Collaborating with WKC Director of Fleet, Land, NA to direct the tactical operation of WKC fleet program and optimize costs and performance
17. Identifying repair order trends and performing root cause analysis to proactively manage fleet concerns
18. Leading and completing quality audits for vendor maintenance services
19. Controlling vehicle rental costs and communicating the business case for new and/or used vehicles if applicable to field personnel
20. Ensuring all vehicles are compliant with emission testing and state-required vehicle inspections, if applicable
21. Having a working knowledge of existing fleet management policies, activities, protocols, and procedures and making enhancement recommendations that address areas of underperformance
22. Creating and actively managing performance metrics and KPIs to proactively measure and report on critical areas including fleet policy compliance, asset utilization and cost, and sustainability
23. Implementing best practices to maintain an inventory of company assets that allows for continual monitoring of asset health, life cycle cost analysis, and replacement planning
24. Defining and applying best-in-class general maintenance and repair practices for company assets and proactively communicating with operators to ensure that fleet needs are consistently being met
25. Recommending and developing preventative maintenance expectations and procedures
26. Supporting DOT regulatory compliance and driver safety efforts requiring familiarity with current and pending government regulations (DOT/FMCSA, OSHA)
27. Establishing collaborative relationships with WKC lines of business, suppliers, and various internal stakeholders (i.e., compliance, safety, HR, and legal) to support all fleet initiatives
28. Utilizing available information to identify and understand issues and opportunities in the company's fleet and providing data-driven recommendations to enhance performance and safety
