We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Medical Secretary to join our friendly, dynamic team.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work alongside our experienced Medical Secretary and our admin team.
Full time 37.5 hours - (1 half day a week)
Main duties of the job
1. To type daily from a dictation system patient referral letters, Statement of Fact's and Medical Reports ensuring that they are recorded on the computer system.
2. Actioning all private work that comes into the practice.
3. Prioritising workload, ensuring that deadlines are met.
4. Installing and updating terminals with the current transcription programmes.
5. Liaise with patients, hospitals, consultants, secretaries and outside organisations on a daily basis on behalf of the practice.
6. Update and maintain patients computer records with relevant information.
7. Attend E-Referral meetings/training, implementing any upgrades to the system.
8. Rearrange E-Referral appointments as necessary.
9. Send out invites and agendas for meetings.
10. Attend meetings to take minutes, type up and distribute these minutes.
11. Log IT faults using self-service account.
12. Request new and close old email and smartcard accounts.
13. Carryout GP Registrar, F2 and Locum inductions around referrals.
14. Notify Trusts of patient deaths.
15. Enhanced services/project work.
16. General administration duties including updating documents, actioning notes and messages, filing and photocopying.
The post holder should ensure that confidentiality is adhered to at all times and that information about a patient is never divulged to anyone other than the patient themselves.
The job description is not exhaustive and the post holder may be requested to undertake additional duties required by the Partners. It is important that all staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain the efficient running of the practice. The Partners reserve the right to redistribute duties and functions amongst members of staff from time to time and requests for such changes should not be unreasonably refused.

Qualifications
* 5 GCSE passes or equivalent.
* A demonstrable commitment to professional development.
* Microsoft Office.
* Qualifications/certificates in customer services.
* Vocational qualification relevant to the post.
Experience
* Experience of working with the public.
* Experience of Microsoft Office software.
* Experienced at taking minutes.
* Experience of working within an NHS setting.
* Experience of EMIS WEB Clinical System.
* Experience of ICE.
* Experience of Olympus Dictation System.
* Experience of E-REFERRAL SYSTEM.
