Apprentice Pharmacy TechnicianTo rotate throughout the department during a 2-year period in order to gain relevant experience to complete a pharmacy apprenticeship in level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services and to attend college to gain underpinning knowledge to complete BTEC level 3 in principles and practice for pharmacy salary will be 70% of band 4, year 1 (£20,379) and 75% year 2 (£21,835) Per Annum.
Qualifications
Desirable a minimum of five GCSEs at grade A*-C/ 9-4, three of which must include English language, Mathematics and one Science subject, preferably Biology or Chemistry. Functional skills level 2 in Maths and English will be acceptable. For applicants that don't have a GCSE in Science grade A - C or equivalent level of qualification, you will have to pass a science screening and have extensive demonstrable experience with level 2 Pharmacy.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
To work in all areas of the department in a training capacity and under supervision, to learn skills and knowledge, and to become aware of department policies and procedures.
To gain experience in applying theoretical knowledge to practical skills. Work will be subject to continuous assessment. To produce a portfolio of evidence to prove sufficient competence.
To undertake general dispensary duties, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and within the legal framework
To assist in maintaining optimal stock levels within the dispensary, liaising with patients, colleagues and ward staff to ensure that immediate and future needs can be met.
To use the pharmacy computer system efficiently
To participate in departmental team meetings regarding procedures and practices.
To undertake general technical service duties, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the legal framework for the supply of medicines;
1. Production - cytotoxic drugs for parenteral administration, intravenous antibiotics, total parenteral nutrition and non-sterile products ( creams and oral liquids).
2. Worksheets - preparation of worksheets.
3. Labelling - generate accurate medication labels.
4. Preparation- preparation of products in aseptic suite.
Participate in weekend, bank holiday and late night rotas as required
