An overview of the role:
With continued growth across the Energy & Utilities Sector, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for our teams who are already working with major UK Utilities organisations. As such, we are recruiting Management Consultants into our Energy and Utilities team to support clients across the UK and globally across various grades.
As forecasting specialist within the utilities sector, you will lead cutting-edge predictive modelling projects to optimize resource allocation, demand planning, leakage reduction, smart metering and risk management. Collaborating with engineers, operations specialists, and policy makers, you will harness data to transform vast data sets into actionable insights to drive strategic decisions in the energy and water sectors ensuring utility providers can meet future demands sustainably and efficiently.
Your work will involve solving complex problems like predicting consumption patterns, understanding and rectifying data quality issues in time series forecasts, evaluating and innovating to build new and improve existing models, rationalising ensembles.

We work on digitalisation and data strategies built on scaled digital platforms, APIs and Cloud. We support organisations to define the business case and benefits modelling that shape these strategic initiatives. Your work will support these efforts whilst also driving key improvements in operational practices to achieve step changes in processing and performance.
Your role will include the following:
1. help organisations to understand the capability and impact of digital transformation and technology
2. use robust analysis to identify new opportunities and insights
3. oversee workstreams, projects and programmes, leading the team to create impactful deliverables, deliver tangible results and business benefits for clients
4. apply agile ways of working and adhere to best principles of delivery
5. lead and/or provide SME input for the development of the sector strategy, client propositions, best practice assets or thought leadership

6. Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.

We are looking for candidates with a proven consulting track record of delivering value in their career to date and who enjoy working collaboratively with clients and have a passion for developing people. .
You’ll bring experience in supporting and driving change in organisations through the quality of your analysis, the clarity of your communication and your ability to influence. Ideally, you will bring proven skills and experience at leading and delivering management consultancy projects and junior colleagues.
In addition, you’ll have the following experience:
9. Strong Analytical Skills - Proficiency in statistical analysis and predictive modelling. Experience in time series forecasting, regression analysis, machine learning, and other advanced forecasting techniques. Robust understanding of model selection and statistical analysis techniques.
10. Technical Expertise - Proficiency in analytics and data visualization tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI) and familiarity with database management systems and experience in handling large datasets.
11. Problem-Solving Abilities - Capacity to translate complex data into actionable insights. Competence in identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities in data to drive strategy and improve performance.
12. Adaptability and Learning Mindset - Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and industry developments. Utility industry experience or knowledge for this role is not critical but mindset is everything.
13. Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Ability to articulate complex analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in report writing, presenting findings, and making data-driven recommendations.
14. Project Management - Experience in leading and managing projects, meeting deadlines, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
15. Leadership Qualities - Ability to mentor and develop a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning. Capacity to inspire trust and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.
