We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive person to join our team who can deliver timely and high-quality technical support within the School of Pharmacy. The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week) permanent basis. Job share opportunities may be considered.
About the role:
* You will support and maintain the provision of key technical services across the School of Pharmacy.
* You will work with academic staff and the Senior Technician to prepare practical classes and oversee the day-to-day running of the teaching laboratories.
* You will monitor Health and Safety within the laboratory environment by assessing risks of planned activities and completing up-to-date standard operating procedures.
* You will provide support, help, and guidance to develop chemistry-related laboratories sessions through the use of equipment, skills, and techniques.
* Perform monthly monitoring of the teaching labs and the equipment.
* Assist the Technical manager during lab inductions.
* Provide technical support and guidance in the use of equipment and specialist techniques essential for teaching.
* Maintain an inventory of chemicals.
* Instrument training ensuring that resources are maintained and available when required.
* Stock control and ordering.
About you:
You will have experience working in a technical role and have a minimum of two A levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ, City & Guild), plus some experience in a relevant technical/scientific role OR considerable work experience in a relevant technical/scientific role. You have skills and experience in problem solving, and excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex information with clarity.
