The Office of the Small Business Commissioner (OSBC) is an Arm’s- length Body set up by the Government under the Enterprise Act 2016. The purpose of the office is to tackle late payment and unfavourable payment practices in the private sector. We offer a dispute resolution service to small suppliers in dispute with their bigger customer over payments. We also provide general information and support to small businesses, and signpost them to other appropriate existing services. We aim to encourage a culture change in payment practices and how businesses deal with each other, and we are looking for talented people to help us achieve it.
We are recruiting a Communications and Engagement Officer to join our dynamic communications and engagement team. The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner’s (OSBC) Communications and Engagement Strategy.
The role will involve developing content for a range of communication channels to raise awareness of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner and its activities, providing support to the Head of Communications and Engagement in the day-to-day business of the team, and accurately gathering data to provide insights for the wider communication strategy. The successful candidate will also support the development and management of relationships with key stakeholders, including both large and small businesses.
The role offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to gain experience in communications and engagement within a small and enterprising team. The role offers great development and training opportunities and support from expert colleagues. You will find flexible working, an inclusive culture, and a place where your opinion is valued.
In addition, this role will provide the opportunity to gain valuable exposure to the crucial small and micro business sectors, and some of the issues will garner significant media and political interest as its scope expands.
Occasional UK travel and overnight stays may be required to attend essential training, conduct meetings, and attend business events. Flexible hybrid working is available, however regular travel to our Birmingham office will be required for training, development, and collaborative working.
If you are a highly motivated individual with good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and you have the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, to gather, maintain and update data, and produce accurate reports, we want to hear from you.
The post holder will:
* Plan, draft, clear and publish communications content using a range of channels.
* Plan and produce marketing and social media content such as videos, leaflets and slide packs.
* Monitor and report on social media metrics and trends.
* Support the engagement of internal and external stakeholders. This includes: the ongoing management of key stakeholder relationships, the set-up and documenting of regular meetings between internal and external partners and supporting the organisation of events.
* Track stakeholder engagement across the team by managing and updating the engagement database.
* Support the management of the website.
* Design, populate and manage the media contacts database.
* Provide high quality support to the Head of Communications and Engagement, to ensure that they are well prepared when carrying out their allocated responsibilities.
* Provide general administration support.
