About this job
The purpose of this role is to enforce Warrants and Liability orders for outstanding debt owed to the Council. This will include Council Tax, PCNs, FPNs and NNDRs. The role is to provide ethical enforcement throughout the Borough and adjacent postcodes. You will be required to work pre-dominantly on your own but with the support of a compliance team and you will manage your own case management, undertaking necessary research and due diligence.
As part of the ethical enforcement service you will develop relationships with other departments within the council to maximise positive outcomes and where necessary signpost vulnerable residents to support services.
Special requirements for this post
You must hold a current enforcement agents’ certificate and you should be prepared to work out of hours and weekends if required. You should also be able to work outside in all weather conditions
About you
You will be required to have an ability to negotiate, convince and influence whilst remaining clear and courteous under sometimes difficult circumstances. You will also understand where a customer requires further support or advice to ensure their longer-term financial sustainability and wellbeing and be able to effectively sign-post or refer cases, working with other departments and partners. You will promote ethical enforcement in the work you undertake.
You will be able to differentiate between those avoiding payment and those who may require assistance to improve their income and standards of living. Ensuring customers entitled to support such as benefits are advised and signposted to the relevant internal and external departments.
You will bring enthusiasm, resilience and determination coupled with the positive disposition to succeed. You will work effectively and positively as part of a team always seeking ways to improve performance with the ability to take direction.
