Lead Technician - Substations
ROLE PURPOSE
To develop, maintain, implement and manage BIM technologies, processes and federated models on live projects. Using digital technology to build collaborative models on Substation projects, the role will involve developing software and investigating method and process improvements that will increase efficiency and quality of output.
To help drive consistency of processes and deliverables across all delivery teams. The role will also focus on training and developing individuals, to create a team capable of producing drawing and model outputs in line with Digital specifications/requirements.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Build and manage collaborative models for live projects, working closely with project teams and Engineering Managers.
2. Work closely with other teams to incorporate digital models and other inputs into federated models.
3. Create drawing and model outputs in line with Clients Digital requirements.
4. Develop the current software and investigate new software/processes to improve efficiency and output.
5. Deliver training and manage training matrix - create a team competent and capable of producing various drawing and model outputs.
6. Manage project models through BIM360 Collaboration and Co-ordination modules.
7. Manage clash detection processes ensuring they align to project specific requirements.
8. Investigate and develop how models can be used to aid the project such as through Augmented and Virtual reality.
9. Develop point cloud capability / offering.
PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE
1. ONC/HNC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
2. Proven experience of Autodesk Revit (Structural or Architectural).
3. Working knowledge of Autocad.
4. Working knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks.
5. Experience in developing GAs & details from Engineers Drawings and Site measurements.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
1. Working knowledge of Autodesk Infraworks.
2. Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.
3. Good understanding of BIM principals (PAS1192 and ISO19650).
4. Good understanding of BIM documentation (EIR's, BEP's).
5. Experience with Autodesk BIM360 or ACC Solutions.
6. Experience in Substation/Power Transmission.
