We are a friendly department and provide world class care in our two Ophthalmological surgical centres, at St Richard's, Chichester and Southlands Hospital which is a state of the art centre, built in 2017. There has been a substantial investment in the service in recent years to help us manage our workload. The unit has 1 medical retina (MR) consultant, 2 MR/VR consultants and 1 MR/VR Associate Specialist and 1 Consultant Optometrist. The unit operates a busy injection service, with nurse injectors allocated to clinics at both sites, and has a history of developing the skills of optometrists in the department. Since the UH Sussex merger, the unit works closely with MR colleagues at Sussex Eye Hospital, Brighton and have recently developed a pan-Trust injection protocol. This Outside of work, West Sussex is an incredible place to live, offering a life on the South coast, with Southlands Hospital within walking distance of the sea.
