Assistant Merchandiser
Salary £25k to £30k DOE Location Peterborough Head Office Contracted Hours 37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - Office Based

The Vacancy
What is the role?
We are looking for an Assistant Merchandiser to be aid the Merchandiser in identifying opportunities and risks through commercial decisions in order to maximise profit. This is done through effective stock management and working closely with the Buying team.
Please note that this is a Head Office procurement vacancy and is not suited to a store based visual merchandiser.
What you will do?
Trading & Commercial Awareness
1. Assist with weekly analysis of the department performance for Trade meetings
2. Liaise with the trading team to update regarding imminent deliveries, key best sellers or re-stock dates
3. Consistent awareness of best and worst sellers for the department and company
4. Conducts regular store visits to obtain direct feedback from staff and customers
5. Has an understanding of the plus size market and knowledge of the high street
Stock & Order Management
6. Works closely with the Buying Assistant and supply base to monitor the critical path, attending Critical Path meetings to identify stock delays, keeping the team informed of potential movements so that appropriate action can be taken
7. Undertakes regular sizing analysis and using this data to create size ratio’s for purchase orders, assisting the Buying Assistant with order raising where necessary
8. Assist with Flow Line monitoring, ensuring the document is accurately updated each week with a view to forecast sales and suggest proposed intake
9. Accurately maintains line details, range plans and relevant databases
Profit Management
10. Understand key calculations, such as, Margin, % Growth, Cover
11. Actions agreed markdowns on the system and analyse the effectiveness of them
Range Planning
12. Produces historical analysis and lessons learnt for strategy/sign off packs
13. Participate in team range building, demonstrating an understanding of the key elements within a range
Relationships with Others
14. Act as a mentor for peers
15. Be passionate and positive and help to create a stimulating and enjoyable work environment
16. Communicate effectively across all levels and via all channels
17. Build and maintain effective working relationships with key partners across the business, with particular emphasis on the Buying, Retail, Logistics and Finance teams
