Electrical Design Engineer, Macclesfield, Competitive Salary
Dalkia Engineering are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Specialist Services team in Macclesfield to work on multiple projects.
This role will provide design activities to various Dalkia clean rooms, production & research facilities, and general buildings. The Electrical Designer will work closely with and under the guidance of the lead electrical designer and will be responsible for providing technical and detailed design based upon conceptual documents as well as verbal briefs, load analysis, design development, and tender documents.
The role will interface with the estimating disciplines as well as the other members of the design team, subcontractors, and client representatives. The electrical designer will assist with producing electrical design drawings, calculations, schedules, and proposals for the design department.
This role will be based at Macclesfield four days a week with the option of working from Manchester or hybrid for the fifth day.

Key Accountabilities
1. Brief the estimating team on pricing requirements and provide sufficient design information to allow accurate and efficient cost plans to be developed.
2. Able to manage a tender return ensuring all bid documentation is completed correctly and returned on time.
3. You could receive initial concept reports and briefs, or you could be interpreting a written URS / EIR for the works and develop it into a detailed and coordinated work package.
4. There will be governance and employers’ requirements which will differ between the various markets and customers that you will need to understand and apply in your designs.
5. Work with the operations team to assist with programming and reporting, construction queries, and technical assistance.
6. Reporting to the Head of Design you will have responsibility for the electrical design aspects on all your assigned enquiries and projects.
Key Skills
1. Engineering qualification to HNC level as a minimum.
2. Trained in the BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 2.
3. Conversant with a wide range of electrical building service systems and equipment.
4. Building Management Systems and associated principles.
5. IT literate with a technical understanding of IT packages relevant to the role, such as Amtech, Relux / Dialux.
6. Your electrical services design duties will include but not be limited to the following:
7. Low Voltage power distribution design for building services.
8. Circuit protection with correct disconnection times in LV final distribution.
9. Lighting design with reflected ceiling plans, suitable uniformity, and coordination with HVAC.
10. Lighting Controls.
11. Cable Calculations.
12. Containment sizing including consideration of de-rating.
13. Structured cabling with segregation.
14. Fire alarm design with BS5839 signoff.
15. Emergency Lighting design with BS5266 signoff.
16. Drawing markups, sketches, schematics to brief the CAD & 3D modelling department.
17. Schedule and BoM production.
18. Knowledge of BMS and EMS systems, metering, and information networking architecture (Desirable).
19. Revit modelling capabilities (Desirable).
