Job Description
GI GROUP is currently looking for experienced Extrusion Operator in Brick/Clay sector.
Location: Telford
Pay: 12.21 £ P/H + Overtime
Shift: DAY SHIFTS - 8am - 4pm
Responsibilities:
1. To ensure the correct test and process procedures are carried out for the operation of the extrusion plant.
2. To give maximum required output of best manufactured products, following the safe procedures to work and risk assessments that you have been trained to for this task.
3. To review the product to be made during each shift against the product specification sheet for the product that you are instructed to manufacture.
4. To liaise with the clay preparation operator for the clay material requirements for the product that you are instructed to manufacture and that the Scada screen recipes are correct for that product.
5. To ensure that the desired clay additives are added at the correct levels and at the correct times by timing the addition rates with a stopwatch and measuring jug, so potential off colours are minimised.
6. To ensure the product is textured, chamfered and sanded correctly to the specification sheets required for the products being manufactured.
7. To ensure the column is square and the cut bricks are the correct size and square, also ensure the trimming wires are set correctly and the perforation holes are within the set tolerances for size, shape and positioning.
8. To maintain the extruder vacuum to avoid product lamination.
9. To ensure the extruded column lubrication is maintained by operating the die lube pump efficiently and effectively.
10. To maintain the operation of the product sander.
11. To maintain the brick multi-wire cutter operation to produce the required quality bricks, changing and setting up the wires and the cutting tables when required.
12. To ensure maximum output is obtained by carrying out the correct starting and stopping procedures that you are trained to.
13. To ensure that if a constant stop/start situation exists that your knowledge and understanding of the control station minimises the number of substandard bricks going into the dryers.
14. To report any deficiencies in brick quality to the supervisor immediately so that it can be rectified.
15. To report any deficiencies of plant and equipment immediately to the supervisor so that it can be rectified.
16. To observe all safety regulations and rules of the company in a responsible manner.
17. To ensure that all guards, photo electric barriers and safety interlocks are working correctly at the start of each shift, and if not to report the deficiency immediately.
18. To complete all necessary quality assurance paperwork correctly and fully to maintain the requirements of the ISO9001 QMS and to maintain good traceability.
19. To complete the daily downtime sheets accurately and to detail any corrective action required.
20. To ensure your work area is kept clean and tidy and free of obstructions. Perform the required daily housekeeping requirements using the hoovers, skip-vacs and cleaning equipment provided.
21. To ensure all waste is disposed of to the correct locations, using the correct bins and skips.
22. To maintain your competence and knowledge of the risk assessments and the C.O.S.H.H. risk assessments carried out and to ensure that the stipulated mandatory P.P.E. is worn at all times where required.
23. To partake in any training deemed necessary for health and safety.
24. To assist in other jobs should you be required.
Skills:
1. Previous experience in Extrusion
