We are looking for a motivated Senior HR Advisor able to demonstrate significant experience of successfully managing a varied and demanding caseload,delivering front line Human Resources advice and guidance, including investigations, disciplinary hearings and performance, absence management, management of change and grievances. You will keep to clear timeframes and manage risk by applying knowledge of best HR practice, latest case law and legislations.
Main duties of the job
This is a highly interactive position that requires a degree of autonomous working supported by an HR Manager and be responsible to the HR Business Partner. You will work within an experienced HR Advisory team providing cross-cover and support to each other. The Human Resources team are planning an office move to Worthing within the coming year, although since the Pandemic we have developed a supportive home-working system which enables us to provide quality HR advice across the county. The post will support services across Brighton & Hove, but will sometimes support colleagues across both East & West Sussex from time to time. The post will support our Brighton & Hove Adult Services.
You will ideally be CIPD qualified and have experience of providing HR advice in a generalist role and working in a unionised environment. You should have a good up to date knowledge of UK employment legislation and be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages. NHS experience is desirable.

* Inputting information onto our ER systems and authorizing contract amendments to ensure accurate employee records.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or equivalent qualification
* Evidence of recent CPD
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* Extensive generalist HR experience working within a complex organisation with exposure to a range of HR issues
* Experience of interpreting and advising on complex terms and conditions, policies and procedures
* Experience of using and extracting information from HR/Payroll Database
* Experience of working cooperatively with trade unions
* Experience of supporting managers in sickness, disciplinary and grievance matters
* Experienced and understanding of the scope and practical application of current and impending employment legislation
* Experience of introducing changes to working practices, policies and systems and sustaining improvements.
* Experience of job evaluation/grading systems
* Knowledge and understanding of key issues within the NHS and/or other public sector organisations
