Waters Division is seeking a Principal Scientist to join the Food & Environmental and Materials (FEMS) program team! Working within the Research, Development and Advanced Testing (RDAT) business segment for the Quan portfolio, you would be responsible for proactively providing expert scientific contribution that impacts product development and business outcomes, solving the analytical problems that matter most. This includes providing leadership in the development of new science, technologies, methods, practices, and ways of working, as well as generating and presenting scientific content using Waters product portfolio to support business activities and new product development. This role can be based from our Wilmslow, UK or Milford, MA locations.
Responsibilities
* Generate high-quality applications marketing content in line with the annual business plan, enabling the development of marketing initiatives.
* Develop a deep understanding of our customer’s needs for FEMS analysis through collaborations and proactively feed this information into the Quan portfolio to support the next product developments.
* Work collaboratively across the RDAT business segment to ensure the transfer of best practices and overall science development.
* Provide disciplinary scientific leadership that significantly impacts FEMS projects and the wider scientific community by patenting and/or publishing scientific articles and reviews in internationally recognised journals.
* Identify, champion, and develop new scientific ideas whilst advising on existing research and development activities.
* Support FEMS activities by participating in customer-facing events to present applications and Waters technologies at seminars, webinars, conferences, and tradeshows.
Qualifications
Education:
* MSc or PhD in a scientific discipline.
Experience:
* Proven practical experience of developing contaminant analytical methods using sample preparation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry for FEMS applications, with PFAS experience preferred, using Waters or other related technologies.
* Considerable work experience and knowledge gained in an appropriate environment to make a significant contribution within a world-class science organization.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and significant evidence of building good working relationships with collaborators.
* Must be a self-starter and have excellent organisational, leadership, and networking skills.
