In this role, you will be responsible for a team of Biomedical Scientists and Associate Practitioners. You will be instrumental in maintaining and developing the high-quality services our laboratory provides, ensuring our clinical users receive the best care possible. You will also play a crucial role in managing our department's quality systems and maintaining UKAS accreditation. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to train the next generation of scientists, passing on your knowledge and passion for your discipline.
The laboratory is covered for 24 hours every day and you would be expected to participate in the shifts including late shifts and weekends and contribute to the continuity and quality of care for patients in the Trust hospitals.
Main duties of the job
1. The day-to-day management of a section within the laboratory under the direction of a Laboratory Manager.
2. Contributes to providing a professional clinical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department.
3. To develop and improve professional expertise and specialist skills.
4. To possess the skills required to provide the necessary training and supervision of staff within the section.
5. To provide and co-ordinate specialist clinical technical and scientific services to patients that may include research and audit.

EDUCATION
Essential
* HCPC Registration
* MSc, FIBMS or equivalent in relevant discipline
* Demonstrable extensive relevant experience post HCPC registration in insert discipline

* Management training
SKILLS/ABILITIES

* Practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic laboratory work
* Timely accurate working
* Competence in PC word processing, spreadsheet and database software
* Prepared to work with biological materials.
