Gateshead Fertility has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Embryologist to join our established team on a fixed-term basis.
We provide a range of fertility treatments to patients in the North East and North Cumbria, renowned for our compassionate care and excellent outcomes. Our Embryology team actively contributes to service development and has significant patient contact.

Main duties of the job
The applicant should have:
* BSc degree in biological sciences
* HCPC Registration as a Clinical Scientist
* Minimum 2 years relevant practical experience
* Evidence of personal and professional development
* Ability to conduct and lead basic scientific investigations
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills

Job responsibilities
a) Duties of the Senior Embryologist
* Perform laboratory duties per protocols, including semen analysis, sperm preparation, oocyte retrieval, fertilisation assessment, embryo culture, transfer, cryopreservation, and maintenance of cryo-material.
* Handle out-of-hours cryo-dewar and equipment responsibilities.
b) Responsibilities of the Senior Embryologist
* Coordinate multidisciplinary activities and schedule treatments.
* Manage laboratory workload independently within guidelines.
* Mentor and train junior staff and trainees.
* Contribute to policy implementation and SOP revisions.
* Record and audit treatment outcomes, maintain databases, and compile statistics.
* Conduct regular equipment testing and participate in quality control measures.
* Assist in equipment evaluation and maintenance of physical assets.
* Organize invoicing for private patients and participate in out-of-hours lab response.
