Position: Tooling / Jigs / Fixtures Design Sector: Manufacturing Engineering Location: Crewe Position Type: Contract Outside IR35 Key Responsibilities: Our Cient is seeking a Contract CAD / Tooling Engineer to join the Jigs & Fixtures team within Production Planning (Manufacturing Engineering) within the Company. Reporting to the Senior Process Planning Manager, the CAD / Tooling Engineer designs tooling / jigs / fixtures for Final Assembly processes and also captures the tooling requirements from across the business and manages the full start to end process where some activities are outsourced. Design of final assembly based jigs, fixtures and tooling to aid the build of the Clients' cars Development and implementation of jigs, fixtures, tooling and equipment in line with the required timing and levels of approved investment. Apply Practical Problem Solving and Control techniques to pro-actively deliver solutions, mitigate risk and solve issues. Ensure equipment complies with all Legal Statutes e.g. - Health and Safety at Work Act, Construction, Design & Management Regs, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regs, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Delivery of projects within agreed budget targets, managing the project potential risk cost. Delivery of all projects and generation of deliverable milestones & monitoring the detail in the project plans. Skills / experience required: The successful candidate will have gained relevant experience from working in a manufacturing engineer role / CAD role with an understanding of vehicle assembly and associated processes. You will demonstrate: Advanced experience in designing jigs, fixtures and tooling for manufacturing purposes (Catia V5) For example - glass setting fixtures, front end setting fixtures, positional brackets, pressure rollers, badge positioning fixtures Proven experience of working with Assembly tooling such as jigs, fixtures, tooling and setting equipment. Clear understanding of tolerancing requirements Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation such as Construction, Design and Management Regs. Great cross-functional communication skills to facilitate full engagement of stakeholders. Strong Project Management and Planning skills, with experience of software such as MS Project, to ensure regular status tracking and reporting. Ability to positively deal with change to maintain Quality, Cost and Delivery Solid experience of solving problems using Practical Problem Solving techniques Minimum qualification HND, ideally Engineering degree.
