A post is available as a Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist within The Community Mental Health Team. This position offers part-time hours (22.5hrs).
The role is part of an Occupational Therapy Team based within The Community Mental Health Occupational Therapy Team, with the majority of the work being community-based. The OTs are embedded within a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful candidate will lead The Community Mental Health Occupational Therapy Team, continuing to embed the principles of Occupational Therapy by using the philosophy of occupation within a recovery framework. The role will offer the chance for some service development, to work alongside other MDT Team Leads, as well as supervision and management of other Occupational Therapy grades.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
* Works without direct supervision to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions with autonomy in secondary care and community settings, including lone working e.g. patients' own homes.
* To manage a defined caseload, using evidence-based/client-centered principles within the occupational model.
* To develop expertise in identified clinical areas.
* To provide leadership through supervision, induction, training, and education of other Occupational Therapists (from Band 4 to Band 6), according to organizational policy and accepted professional standards.
* To demonstrate a commitment to the education of Occupational Therapy students, ensuring the maintenance of clinical standards through regular supervision of students on practice placement.
* To work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and with voluntary organizations, local authority, and other appropriate health and social care sectors to negotiate care provision across the primary/secondary care interface.
* To maintain clinical records in accordance with legal requirements and professional standards.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Clinical Experience
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy. Professional registration as recognized by HPC.
* Autonomous practitioner with self-management skills. Sound clinical reasoning/problem-solving skills within the clinical area.
* Ability to support and supervise others both clinically and managerially.
* Organizational skills. E.g., initiates and contributes to multi-agency/professional meetings.
* Knowledge of services that link across the primary/secondary care interface to provide integrated care in specialism.
* Professional confidence. Adaptive skills that embrace change and new developments. Self-motivated. Ability to cope well under pressure.
* Evidence of recent study. Fieldwork Educators Course.
* Evidence of experience of Mental Health services as a Band 5 or 6.
Experience
* Sufficient post-graduate clinical experience. Managing a caseload Inter-professional and multi-agency team working.
* Experience of representing Occupational Therapy on an MDT basis.
