Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Primary School in Knaresborough, starting Easter or just after.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 3 student with ASD and ADHD, providing tailored support both in-class and during specific activities outside of class time. The role will involve encouraging the student's development, helping with behaviour management, and de-escalating situations as they arise. The ideal candidate will have experience with special educational needs, a calm and caring nature, and the ability to follow direction from the class teacher and other staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a Year 3 student with ASD and ADHD
Assist with accessing the curriculum and school activities
Manage behaviour and implement strategies to de-escalate challenging situations
Support the student both in class and outside of the classroom when necessary
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met
Be patient, nurturing, and proactive in your approachIdeal Candidate:
Experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD
Strong behaviour management skills
Nurturing, calm, and patient approach
Ability to de-escalate situations and support emotional regulation
