Job Description
The role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical working and vehicle construction. Ability to communicate with other departments and prioritize workloads to meet deadline. The need to be able to adapt to new methods of working and construction in line with new vehicle and trailer development.
* Keeping up to date with technology changes.
* Ensuring health and safety and legal compliance are not compromised
* To maintain a steady flow of work through the workshop. Ensuring we meet DVSA, and statutory inspection dates.
* Planning of inspections and repairs in conjunction with manpower and business demands, ensuring the work is planned away from busier times of the week.
* Carry out quality inspections on services and repairs that have been completed within the workshop, also on return from external vendor repairs.
* Ensuring technicians book correct time and parts to all jobs, correct coding of repairs IE damage, wear and tear.
* Liaise with transport regularly teams to ensure to keep relationship to a good standard
* Maintain the fleet to keep VOR’s at a level that allows transport to achieve their plans
* Ensuring team work to standard
* Ensuring team work to quoted times and cost
* Reporting to the VMU Controller and Manager
* Responsible for own and team environmental, health and safety standards.
* Paperwork is correct for the technicians on the shift and completed at the required time
* Communicating to Transport and VMU management the current VOR, servicing and defects
* Reporting all VMU, building, equipment and tooling defects and deficiencies.
* Any other tasks as delegated by management.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified and Certificates in HGV maintenance to Level 3
* Lead and work as a part of a team
* Plan and prioritise workload based on business needs.
* Accurate paperwork and document control
* Knowledge of environmental, health and safety standards
* Ability to communicate effectively, to own team and to management.
