Suffolk County Council is seeking a Head of Quality Assurance to join our Children and Young People Services (CYP). This full-time, permanent role offers a 37-hour workweek with flexible working options. The salary range is £70,086 - £79,174 per annum (pro rata for part-time).

Your role and responsibilities
As a Head of Quality Assurance within CYP, you will be part of the leadership team, working closely with various service areas and partners to ensure effective operations. Your main responsibilities include designing and implementing the QA system, enhancing the current quality assessment framework, and ensuring comprehensive coverage across the system.
What you will do
1. Collaborate with departments such as SEND, social care, youth justice, fostering, and adoption.
2. Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess service performance.
3. Communicate insights effectively to inform decision-making and service improvements.
4. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
5. Develop and maintain strategic regional and national relationships.
6. Lead multi-agency audits and joint inspections.
7. Provide strategic leadership to uphold high-quality service delivery.
8. Identify and incorporate best practices from other regions and sectors.
What you will need
* A degree or equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience in designing and implementing QA systems.
* Specialist knowledge of social work, childcare practice, legislation, policy, and research, including related areas like Health, Probation, and SEND.
* Strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to build strategic relationships across departments.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
* Leadership skills for strategic vision and high-quality service delivery.
* Good interpersonal, organizational, and information management skills.
* Availability to work in the office at least three days per week.

The team
The Quality Assurance and Practice Development Team supports and influences practice across CYP, promoting best practices within CYP and partner agencies. Key activities include delivering high-quality services, conducting audits, performance management, and developing systems for continuous improvement. The team values innovation, strategic thinking, and effective communication, working collaboratively across services.
