ABOUT THE ROLE
The Operations Team Leader will deliver safe and effective operations of our Kinneil asset, through competent shift teams who rigorously follow procedures and standards. The Operations Team Leader is also responsible for the delivery of the Kinneil operations and maintenance plan, whilst protecting steady operations of the asset through planned and unplanned events.
WHAT DOES THE DAY TO DAY LOOK LIKE?
* Plant Manager Deputy (including Live line Blast certificate approval, MOC approval, ORA approval and directing Operations Specialist’s priorities during PM leave)
* Full time delegation of Plant Manager Approval for Kinneil Operating procedures and Safety override assessments (SORA) produced by Operations Specialists
* Directs and ensures competency of the FPS Shift managers. Set priorities of team to meet operations and maintenance plans including approving and communicating emergent activity
* Ensures rigorous compliance of operations technicians to procedures and standards, through FPS Shift Manager, direction and oversight auditing. Accountable for overall technician competency at Kinneil and succession planning in support of Plant Manager
* Gatekeeper for Maintenance /TAR and project activities to ensure process release plans in place and protect availability of Kinneil asset. Identify any non-gate ready activity to plant manager for approval/ or rejection
* Ensures work activities executed as per plan and there are no safety critical jobs overdue. Provide operations prioritisation of activity/ defects within week or day. This requires influencing across direct team, but also maintenance, production planning, TAR and project organisations. The requirement to balance and direct resources to the highest business priority an where required escalate to Plant Manager if significant conflict exists
* Ensures Operational Risk Assessments are in place for operations out of normal parameter and effectively communicated to stakeholders within operations team. Ensures required mitigations are in place and monitor continued effectiveness
* Accountable for implementation of operational process safety (Locked open/locked close valve register, application / management of overrides, emergency exercises, safe isolation of plant, quality of shift handovers, and execution of core daily operations checks/routines)
* Confirms MOC’s are ‘Authorised’ prior to authorising reinstatement of equipment and as part of planning process
* Performance of COW Site authority role, delegated from Plant Manager (to cover COW OTL). Final approval of permit to work and associated risk assessments
* Job holder expected to be part of the INEOS FPS IMT, specifically Incident Manager role
* Requirement to be contactable out of hours
* Some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned plant outages
WHAT DO I NEED?
* Engineering degree with substantial experience in asset operations
* Strong knowledge of asset operating procedures and activities, including key interactions with other site operating units
* Excellent knowledge of site operating standards/procedures and relevant HSE legislation
* Proven technical/operational troubleshooting skills
* Strong knowledge of all relevant disciplines – Mech, I/E, Control, DCS, Maintenance
* Strong knowledge in management of change processes
* Excellent decision making skills, both within and outwith area of direct expertise
* Proven ability to manage, coach and develop personnel
* High level of communication skills, dealing with all levels in the organisation
* High level of personal integrity, placing real importance and giving leadership on this front
